About Us

Hippo Energy (Pty) Ltd was founded by father and son, Graham Clark and Rory Clark, in 2022 to capitalize on the fast-changing energy landscape across the African continent.

The company’s primary interest is to deploy funds into renewable energy projects, as well as carbon offset projects. The company offers both EPC contracts as well as Power Purchase Agreements within the solar energy sector and aims to have secured over 20MW of solar PV projects within the next 3 years. Hippo Energy is backed by a pool of private investors and experienced technical partners.

Hippo Energy prides itself on being a high-quality and reliable service provider. Hippo Energy understands that building solar plants that will last over 25 years requires a long-term perspective and conceptual shift towards high quality and reliability. In this regard, Hippo Energy only uses proven technology of the highest quality. No shortcuts are taken to save initial costs but rather the long-term financial performance of the system is put first.

Graham Clark

CHAIRMAN

Is Chairman of Hippo Energy. Graham is a qualified Chartered Accountant and seasoned executive with over 30 years of experience, having held previous positions as Group CEO of Illovo Sugar, Tongaat-Hulett, Dangote Sugar, and Fiji Sugar Corporation. Graham currently holds non-executive positions on the boards of Chobe Group Holdings and Chairman of Challenger Fund, an emerging markets-focused trade finance business.

Rory Clark

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Is the Managing Director of Hippo Energy. Rory holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. Rory has worked within the energy sector for over 10 years, primarily overseeing the logistics of large energy projects when he worked at DSV, a leading global freight forwarder. Rory has since been advising City Industrial Property on sustainability initiatives and has overseen the roll-out of numerous solar installations within the fund.
